The Full-Time Firefighter/EMT-B will be assigned to work twenty-four (24) hour shifts, working a pre-set schedule. The Full-time     Firefighter/EMT-B/EMT-P will be   responsible  for responses to Fire and   Emergency Medical Incidents, public education programs, pre-fire plan surveys, fire station maintenance, and fire apparatus maintenance.

Qualifications and Requirements

1.  Shall possess a current basic or higher certification as a firefighter by the Texas Commission on Fire Protection (“TCFP”). 

2.  Hold minimum current certification as an EMT-Basic by the Texas Department of Health and Services. 

3.  Must have or obtain a valid State of Texas Class A or B driver’s license within 6 months. 

4.  Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, must be able to read, write and fluently speak English. Bilingual a plus. 

5.  Must have NIMS 100, 200, 700, 800 certifications. 

6.  Courage to be safe course certificate. 

7.  Pass an entrance medical examination provided by the district. 

8.  Complete a pre-employment drug screening. 

9.  Complete a criminal history background check.

10. Pass District Physical Ability Test (“PAT”).

11. High School Diploma or GED (associate degree preferred).

12. Must be 18 years of age or older.

13. Must be a US Citizen by birth or naturalization or permanent resident.

14. Requires working 24-hour shift with a rotating schedule. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays year-round.

15. Military Discharge Papers DD-214 (If Applicable)

16. 130/190 Wildland training preferred.
